Brought in my grandfather's Seiko that had been sitting in a drawer for about fifteen years. The assessment was thorough — Khun Pradit explained exactly what he found and why the mainspring needed replacing before he did anything. The watch came back running very well and the written summary was more detailed than I expected. Worth the wait.

I had the Everyday Service Package done on my daily-wear watch. Good communication throughout — they contacted me when they found a worn crown and asked before replacing it. Turnaround was nine days which was close to what they said. The watch is keeping much better time now. My only note is that drop-off during peak hours can take a moment, so it's worth calling ahead.

Had the Collector's Restoration done on a mid-1960s Swiss piece I'd had for years but never dared send anywhere. The stage-by-stage documentation is exactly what I was hoping for — I now have a proper record of the movement's condition before and after. The dial was handled very carefully and the case still has all its original finish. Genuinely impressed.

A watch I inherited from my father — an automatic that had stopped running. I brought it to Mainspring not knowing what to expect. They recommended the Vintage Refresh rather than the full restoration and explained why. It came back working properly. The written record was a nice touch; it felt like the watch now has a proper history again.

Used the Everyday Service Package for two watches — one at the same time. Pricing was clear from the start. The turnaround on the first was eight days; the second ran slightly longer because they found a worn click spring and checked with me before replacing it. The documentation they provide is better than most places I've used in Europe, honestly.

I went in not completely sure which service I needed. Wanida at the front was very helpful — she explained the difference between the packages plainly and wasn't pushing me toward the more expensive option. I ended up with the Everyday Service which was right for the watch. Came back clean, accurate, and with a summary I actually read.

A Closer Look at Three Jobs

A 1970s Swiss Automatic — Collector's Restoration

The Situation

A 1972 Swiss manual-wind piece, purchased at an estate sale in Chiang Mai. The movement was running intermittently and the dial had some loose lacquer in one corner. The owner was a collector and wanted to understand the movement's full condition before committing to work.

What Was Done

Full Collector's Restoration with pre-work photography and staged documentation. A worn pallet fork jewel was identified and an NOS replacement sourced. The dial lacquer was stabilised without repainting. The case was cleaned but not polished — original brushwork preserved.

The Outcome

Movement running consistently at +4 seconds per day across positions. Owner received a twelve-page document covering condition notes, parts used, and timing results. Total time: six weeks. The owner described the documentation as "the most useful thing the watch has come back with in forty years."

A Japanese Automatic — Vintage Refresh

The Situation

A late-1980s Japanese automatic inherited from a client's uncle. The watch had been in a drawer unworn for around eight years. It would run briefly after being wound by hand but lost power reserve quickly. Crystal was scratched but otherwise condition was good for the age.

What Was Done

Vintage Refresh. Movement service revealed dried lubricants at several key points, which explained the power reserve loss. The mainspring was within tolerance and retained. A replacement sapphire crystal was fitted after approval. Case cleaned; original brushed finish maintained.

The Outcome

Full 40-hour power reserve restored. Timing result: -6 seconds per day, within acceptable range for the calibre. Completed in three weeks. The client noted the watch had not performed this well since they remembered wearing it as a child in their uncle's home.

A Daily Driver — Everyday Service Package

The Situation

A modern Swiss automatic worn daily for four years without service. Still running, but the owner noticed it was gaining about twenty seconds a day and the rotor made a slight grinding sound during winding. No cosmetic issues; just a watch due for attention.

What Was Done

Everyday Service Package. Movement cleaning revealed worn rotor ball bearing — replaced as a standard part of the service scope. Movement lubricated throughout. Gaskets in good condition; no replacement needed. Case and bracelet exterior cleaned and link pins checked.

The Outcome

Timing result post-service: +3 seconds per day. Rotor now smooth and silent. Completed in eight working days. The written summary noted the rotor replacement and included the timing result. Owner asked to be contacted when the next service is due.
