An Approach Worth
Understanding
There are several places in Bangkok to have a watch serviced. This page explains what makes Mainspring's approach different — not in abstract terms, but in practical ones you can evaluate.
Back to HomeSix Things That Matter
One Technician Per Watch
Your watch stays with the same technician from intake to completion. No handoffs, no gaps in knowledge about what has been done.
Documentation Included
Every job produces a written record. You leave with a clear account of what the watch needed and what was done — a document worth keeping.
Honest Service Recommendations
We tell you what the watch actually needs, not what generates the most revenue. If the basic service will do the job, that is what we say.
Approval Before Extra Work
Nothing outside the agreed scope happens without your knowledge. We contact you, explain what was found, and wait for your go-ahead.
Patina and Character Respected
For vintage pieces, original surfaces and finishes are treated carefully. A watch with history should look like it has one — not like it just left the factory.
Clear, Published Pricing
Three service tiers with published starting prices. You know what to expect before the assessment, not after. No hidden charges within the agreed scope.
Hands That Know Mechanical Movements
Mechanical watchmaking requires a particular kind of attention. The components are small, the tolerances are tight, and the interactions between parts are numerous. Mainspring's lead technician has spent over fourteen years on this kind of work — enough time to have encountered most of the things that go wrong with a mechanical movement and to know how to address them properly.
This depth of experience is what allows us to give an accurate initial assessment rather than a vague estimate, and to communicate clearly about what a watch needs rather than speaking in generalities.
What this means in practice
- Assessment at intake is specific, not generic
- Unusual calibres handled without guesswork
- Movement condition explained in plain terms
- Realistic timelines given, not optimistic ones
- Vintage service approaches understood and respected
The work sequence
- 1Intake photography and condition log
- 2Movement inspection and findings review
- 3Owner approval for any work beyond scope
- 4Service, cleaning, and lubrication
- 5Timing machine testing and adjustment
- 6Written summary prepared and delivered with watch
A Sequence That Protects the Watch and the Owner
The way work is organised matters as much as the technical skill that goes into it. A watch that is serviced without a proper initial record, or without the owner's approval on extra work, or without a completion check is a watch where problems can go unnoticed or unacknowledged.
Mainspring's sequence is designed to keep the owner informed at each stage and to create a record that is useful long after the service is done.
Three Tiers, Published Prices, No Surprises
Starting prices for all three service tiers are published. The Everyday Service Package begins at ฿6,000; Vintage Refresh at ฿19,500; Collector's Restoration at ฿33,000. These figures cover the standard scope of each service.
If the assessment reveals something outside that scope — a damaged part, a worn crown — we contact you before proceeding. The price stays predictable because the process for managing changes is clear.
Pricing transparency means
- You know the base price before bringing the watch in
- Extra costs only arise with your agreement
- No minimum spend to get an assessment
- Service tier matched to the watch's actual condition
Mainspring vs Typical Providers
This table reflects common practices in general watch repair shops, not any specific business.

| Intake photographs taken and logged | Rarely | |
| Published starting prices | Sometimes | |

What You Will Not Find Everywhere
Collector's Archive Document
The Collector's Restoration package includes a stage-by-stage written record — not just a final summary, but a document that captures each phase of the restoration. For a watch with collector or family significance, this is something worth having.
Named Technician Assignment
When you drop off a watch at Mainspring, you are told who will be working on it. That person stays with the job. You can ask specific questions and get specific answers — not a general update from whoever answered the phone.
No-Obligation Assessment
Bring a watch in and we will look at it and give you a considered view of what it needs. There is no charge for the initial assessment, and no obligation to proceed. We think that is a reasonable way to begin a conversation about a watch you care about.
Signed Collection Protocol
Your watch is released only with a signed acknowledgement from the owner or an authorised representative. A small formality — but one that matters when the piece in question is valuable or irreplaceable.
